Who We Are
Welcome to Real Roots Counseling!
We believe humans have an incredible capacity for healing and growth. When we gently acknowledge our experiences and engage in our own healing, we create space for deep, lasting change. Real Roots Counseling honors where you’ve been while supporting your growth into something fuller, stronger, and more alive.
-
At Real Roots Counseling we understand that our earliest experiences shape who we are. Our childhoods, relationships, and caregivers form the foundation from which we grow, influencing how we relate to ourselves and the world around us.
Like the roots of a tree, our past holds both nourishment and hardship. We all carry stories—of struggle, loss, resilience, and moments we may not be proud of. Yet strong roots allow trees to endure storms, to bend without breaking, and even to grow again after being uprooted.
In the same way, we as humans have an incredible capacity for healing and growth. When we gently acknowledge our experiences and engage in our own healing, we create space for change. Real Roots Counseling honors where you’ve been while supporting your growth into something fuller, stronger, and more alive.
-
Our therapy methods at Real Roots are warm, collaborative, and thoughtfully inquisitive. Using evidence-based psychotherapy, we help clients explore the deeper roots of their struggles while reconnecting with their authentic selves.
Sessions are curious and exploratory, with thoughtful questions and open dialogue. We walk alongside you, offering support and insight as you work toward healing, clarity, and greater flexibility in your life.

Real Roots Counseling was founded by Brittni Capps, LICSW, with the mission of helping individuals, couples, and families.
Founder of Real Roots, Brittni Capps holds a firm belief that meaningful growth often happens through challenge—when we are supported in facing what feels difficult, uncomfortable, or unfamiliar. In therapy, this challenge is approached with care, respect, and emotional safety, while still gently pushing toward the change that makes healing possible.
With years of both professional and lived experience, Brittni and the Real Roots team are passionate about supporting clients in healing from the past, overcoming current challenges, and creating meaningful, lasting change. We also specialize in helping clients better understand longstanding behavioral patterns and support desired to aid in personality-based growth—such as reducing perfectionism, strengthening emotional flexibility, improving boundaries, and building healthier relationship dynamics.
Through compassionate care and practical, evidence-based tools, we help you build confidence, heal the relationship that you have with yourself, and move forward with a deeper sense of stability, authenticity, and purpose.

Brittni Capps, LICSW, LCSW
Clinical Director & Founder
Brittni works with individuals and couples navigating OCD, perfectionism, attachment patterns, and trauma. She is one of only three clinicians in Washington State with a focused specialization in Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD). She helps clients learn how to gently loosen their grip—creating more balance, flexibility, and a life that feels fuller and more sustainable. Brittni’s work also emphasizes giving yourself permission to slow down, feel what you’ve been carrying, and take breaks without guilt—honoring rest as an essential part of healing, not something that has to be earned.
