Hi, I’m Brittni Capps
LICSW | LCSW | Founder of Real Roots
I am one of only three clinicians in Washington State specialized in working with individuals and couples navigating OCD and OCPD, perfectionism, attachment patterns, and trauma.
Many of the clients I work with feel stuck in cycles of “never enough,” intrusive thoughts, or a strong need for control in order to feel safe. These patterns can be exhausting and often place strain on relationships. In therapy, we explore where these patterns developed, how they have served a protective role, and how to gently loosen their grip—creating more balance, flexibility, and a life that feels fuller and more sustainable.
Using evidence-based psychotherapy, I help clients explore the deeper roots of their struggles—whether shaped by trauma responses, OCD-related thought patterns, or the rigidity of OCPD—while reconnecting with their authentic selves.
My Approach
Warm
I value strong therapeutic rapport and work intentionally to create a space that feels safe, respectful, and honest, while also gently challenging patterns that no longer serve you.
Collaborative
I’m here to walk alongside you, offering support and gentle challenges to gain insight as you work towards healing, clarity, and greater flexibility in your life.
Inquisitive
Sessions are curious and exploratory, with thoughtful questions and open dialogue. I welcome feedback as an essential part of the process.

10 Things About Me
(in no particular order)…
I was accepted into and attended a psychoanalysis program, an experience that profoundly shaped how I think, listen, and practice.
I co-trained the first-ever asynchronous OCPD training, featuring a one-hour interview with leading OCPD researcher Dr. Pinto and a one-hour interview with psychoanalytic expert Gary Trosclair.
One could very reasonably argue that I have an unofficial specialty in home organization—there is a system for everything.
At my core, I believe that meaningful change happens at the intersection
I have lived experience with OCPD/OCD—and I believe that depth of knowing strengthens the way I connect with and support my clients.
Stand-up comedy is one of my favorite art forms; humor, timing, and truth-telling matter more than people realize.
A conversation I had with Gary Trosclair, author of The Healthy Compulsive, directly inspired a podcast episode and blog post—and I was named in both.
I’m unapologetically obsessed with thriller novels—the slow burn, the suspense, the anticipation (always the anticipation).
I’m proud of my family—where I come from, what we’ve survived, and what we continue to build together.
